Thoroughbred Racing Masterpiece Now an E-book

While doing some research last night, I stumbled across something that I wanted to share. I found that Jimmy Breslin’s Sunny Jim: The Life of America’s most Beloved Horseman James Fitzsimmons is now available as an e-book. This ranks high among  my all-time favorite racing books and, until the release of the e-book, very difficult to find. I highly recommend this one — it’s a brilliantly told tale about about a man whose life spanned an incredible era of thoroughbred racing in America:

Sunny Jim: The Life of America’s Most Beloved Horseman, James Fitzsimmons

Here are a few of the posts that I have done over the years using Sunny Jim as a source:

Gloucester Race Track in New Jersey, 1890 to 1893
On Bad Analogies and Life Lesson From Sunny Jim
The Death of Dark Secret, 1934

Will be back later this week with a post related to Preakness winner Nellie Morse…

Thanks for reading!

Best. News. Ever. Thanks! I’ve been looking for this book.

I met this gentleman once in New York. I think he was little embarrassed that a young kid would ask him for his autograph, but he very kindly scrawled his name on an envelope my mother had in her purse. Somewhere between here and there that envelope was lost, but I’ll always have the memory.
