Here we go again! For the second year in a row we wake up on Belmont Stakes day with a chance for a Triple Crown. I have been at Belmont Park for the last two attempts but will be hunkered down at my home-base watching today. I’d love to see American Pharoah become number twelve – he certainly looks like a worthy additon. Trainer Bob Baffert in his fourth try after being so close with Real Quiet and Silver Charm and jockey Victor Espinoza in his third try just one year after missing aboard California Chrome would make for great story.
Of course, i’ll be rooting for Pharoah but I’ll be betting against him, I wrote about my strategy for CBS Local. You can check out the article here:
I also did a preview for them early in this week:
In case you missed it, I posted a history article about Eddie Arcaro and the Belmont Stakes last week:
It is going to be a great day of racing at Belmont Park today — maybe the best card of races we will see this year. Sorry I won’t be there in person but I’ll be dialed in all day trying to cash a few big tickets. If you’d like to check out my picks for the Grade 1 races, they are posted at Hello Race Fans here
And, just because it seems a good day to watch it again, here is Secretariat winning the 1973 Belmont Stakes
